Paper quilts.

Students were using pattern to create detailed paper quilts. They had the choice of whether they wanted to add color. 

Third graders were given an assignment to draw people in anyway they think of. This student chose to create an action shot of Spider-Man. 

Middle school pumpkins

Students were studying value with pumpkins and bananas. 

5th grade was required to take a pretest seeing what they knew about portraits by drawing the Mona Lisa. 

Painting Landscapes

The first grade students spent one full day drawing out their landscapes and today Ms. Johnson's class was able to paint theirs. 

Fish ponds

They students were given the task to  use their imagination to create fish ponds. These are two fourth grade examples. 

Drawings

I wanted to share a few of the drawings from a student in one of my seventh grade classes. This class focuses a lot on  proportions and drawing. They are currently moving into painting.

Insects and fall

The kindergarten through 2nd grade students are using their imagination to create paintings of insects and fall.

Optical Art

The 8th grade students did an optical art lesson a couple weeks ago that I wanted to share. They looked at how different artists distort lines and shapes to create the illusion of form and then made their optical illusion. 

Bird pop up cards

This is a 7th graders example from the pop up bird lesson done with construction paper and other various materials. The beak actually moves! 

Ahoy Matey!!

I wanted to share some student work from the pirate art lesson where the students were drawing pirates after examining important pirate components like a pirate hat or the type of clothes.

9/26 Bulletin board

This year is starting out so exciting. The bulletin board reflects a few of the middle school projects where they were creating a flower vase and another where they studied Georgia Okeffe's work.

6th grade arrietty

First grade Turtle Assignment

This was a work in progress for the turtle assignment the students had. They were creating their own turtle drawings.

Happy birthday Dr. Seuss

This is a kindergarten student's version of the cat in the hat.

Hand drawing assignment

This was one of the first projects of the semester. This is a seventh grade result.

Perspective

This is a sixth grade version to the perspective project we did recently. The students were able to choose their own method for adding color.

2nd grade winter wonderland

This project is an extended drawing from a 2nd grader. She worked on this for several days focusing on different details each day.

8th grade Arrietty

This is an eighth grade example from the Arrietty project. This student is focusing on the scene where Arrietty is talking to the boy outside.

Secret World of Arrietty

The middle school students were able to watch the studio ghibli film The Secret World of Arrietty and create artwork inspired by the movie. I wanted the students to see a more current film. This is a sixth grade work in progress.

This is an example from the third grades's introduction to portraits. These are 20 minute drawings.

4th grade bear portraits

These are two examples from the introduction to portraits the students received where they were to create portraits of teddy bears.
