Work in Progress: Chameleon

This is an eighth grade result from the intro into Shapes unit and their first painting project for the year. The students first drew the chameleon and were to put shapes inside. The background was of their painting was of their choosing: either shapes or a nature scene.

This is another result from the Free Painting lesson. This is a first grade example .

Free Painting: Focus on Working Safely

Students were able to draw and paint something of their choosing as an exploration way of using paint. The focus was more on using the paint safely rather than the outcome of the artwork. This is a 2nd grade example of from the assignment. I love how the house details and the person was more unique with the chain.  This was done with 20 minutes of work time.

Detailed Faces: A Kindergarten Perspective

We practiced drawing more detailed faces this week and today was the day where I had them draw without my help. This is one example from the class. This drawing was done in a 25 minutes.

Fairly Odd: Poof Drawing

This a fifth grade example from the Poof directed drawing lesson. I'm under the firm belief that if students draw what they like whether it's a cartoon character or a family member they will look for the important details. This drawing takes so much consideration for Poof's details.

Hooked on Bug Jars

This is a 7th grade result from the bug jar activity. This student took a different approach and included all under water scenery with sea life. Everything was well planned out. Next the student will be adding color to the drawing.

Bug Jar Landscapes

I wanted to have the students to do something fun to close out the concept of line drawing so I spliced the idea of a bug jar art lesson with landscapes. The students were to draw a jar with some sort of landscape inside and use something of their choice within the background. This 8th grade student made their own version of Fairy World from memory and put their bug jar on a book shelf.
